This course offers a valuable opportunity for Chinese opera enthusiasts to embark on their journey into the traditional art form through structured foundational training.

Date: Every Saturday
Time: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Course Content:

Movement Training: Focus on the foundational elements of “hands, eyes, body, steps, and techniques” (手眼身法步), progressing to waist and leg training (腰腿功) to help participants achieve graceful and expressive operatic movements.

Technical Skills: Specialised training in water sleeve (水袖) techniques, allowing participants to experience the exquisite art of prop-based performance in Chinese opera.
“Beginning SameJiang Yue Opera Vocal Training Class”
Starting from April 25th, Yue Opera vocal training will be added.
(Male and female role singing segments will be alternated)

- The Story of Chunhyang— “Every Year’s Dragon Boat Festival, Every Year’s Spring” (Wang School)
- Birthday Congratulations to the Five Elders— “Thinking of My Late Father” (Fan School)
- Dream of the Red Chamber— “A Sister Descends from the Sky” (Xu School & Wang School)

Teaching Content:
- Proper recitation (spoken parts), music reading skills, articulation and vocal techniques, vocal production methods, emotional expression, and stylistic characteristics of different schools.
- Performance feedback and critique — Singers can interact with the teacher for targeted corrections, rapidly improving their singing skills. This also serves as a great opportunity for mutual learning among participants.
- Demonstration recordings, accompaniment music, and sheet music will be provided to facilitate self-practice for students.
Special Note:
There is no need to be overly attached or limited to a specific male/female role type or school. Any school or segment is merely a medium! Once you acquire proper vocal techniques and singing skills, you will be able to master multiple schools.
